Edward L. Heyer

Edward L. Heyer, born 12/17/1927 to Albert and Cora Heyer on the family farm in Big Rock, Illinois.  His three sisters have pre-deceased him.

He attended Big Rock schools.  After High School, he helped his father with farming for 3 years.

 

He then attended Aurora and Naperville Colleges, graduating with a Major in English in 1953.  He continued from there to Evangelical Theological Seminary, graduating with a Master of Theology degree.

 

In 1957, he married Jane Williams.  They had four children: Gretchen, Heidi, Paul and Dietrich.  He was also blessed with 3 grandchildren: Sorena, Van and Garvey.

 

Ed and Jane with family embarked on a journey of Mission work for 11 years in Zimbabwe, Sierra Leone and Liberia.

 

He later served as a Pastor with the Northern Illinois Conference of the United Methodist Church serving in Seneca, Winfield, Joliet and Sheridan.

In retirement he served Triumph United Methodist Church and also carried out special assignments for the Conference Board of Global Missions.

 

He lived out his retirement on his family farm in Big Rock, Illinois and passed away on Monday, May 31st at the age of 93.

 

A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, June 27th at 1130AM at United Church of Sandwich.

 

In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to “Bread for the World” at bread.org in honor of Edward Heyer.
