Dorothy I. Halter, 93, of Dover, passed away on Sunday, May 2, 2021 in Community Hospice, Truman House at New Philadelphia.

Born in New Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Mildred (Burris) Bear and had retired from Quilting Creations at Bolivar.

Dorothy was a member of the First Church of the Brethren at New Philadelphia. She loved to bake and would often give away cookies to her family and friends but was famous for her fruitcakes. She loved her family and was at her happiest when they were around. Even at the age of 93, she was technology savvy. Often keeping in touch with her family and friends through social media and texting.

Surviving are two daughters, Mary Jo (Gary) Haught and Sandy Fragasse and her husband Robèrt Hammond, both of New Philadelphia; two sons, Vic Krebs of Dover and John (Annette) Krebs of Wirtz, Virginia; a step-daughter, Jay (Doug) Miller of West Jefferson; grandchildren, Jim and Jodi Krebs, Leslie Haught and her fiancé, Cory Hill, Marci Haught and her friend Eric Aronhalt, Curtis and Amanda Haught, Betty Helena, Margaret Fragasse and her husband, Will Reisener, Anthany Krebs, Bianca Krebs and her significant other, Landon Tufts, Jimmy Krebs, Chad and Jennifer Miller, Lindi Miller and her friend Eric and Mike and Topaz Tolloti; great-grandchildren, Adrianna, Jared, Taylor, Alex, Brock, Hannah, Brennan, Katie, Lydia, Sabrina, Antony, Bella, Maximo, Camden, Stella, Dylan, Teyah, Jordan, Sophie, Jace, Baylie, Ethan, Bryn, Brynnle, Breeze, Brogan and Braxton and great-great grandchildren, Henson, Bryer and Nina.

In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by a son, Donnie Krebs; a sister, Betty Bear; a brother, Sonny Bear; a daughter-in-law, Adrie Krebs; a granddaughter, Lori Krebs and a grandson, Joey Fragasse.

A service celebrating Dorothy’s life will be held on Thursday, May 6, 2021 at 11 AM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home at New Philadelphia with Pastor David Hobbs officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 10 to 11 AM in the funeral home chapel.

It is the family’s request that instead of flowers, Dorothy’s memory be honored with donations to either First Church of the Brethren, 700 Fair Avenue NW, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663, or, Community Hospice Truman House, 716 Commercial Avenue SW, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663.

For the safety of everyone, the 6-foot rule will be honored and all guests are required to wear a mask to enter the funeral home.
