Donna J. Feld, 82, died June 28, 2023, after a two-year battle with cancer. A visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, July 2, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel Stateroom. Funeral Mass 10 a.m. Monday, July 3, at All Saints Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids. Interment Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.

Donna is survived by her husband of 55 years, Thomas “Tom”; and son, Bill (Stacy) Feld.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Jacqueline Joan (JJ).

Born March 25, 1941, to Manley and Charlotte Jorstad in Ottawa, Ill. She was raised in Danville, Ill. Her early years in Danville were highlighted by her love of music and playing the clarinet and piano. She was Valedictorian at Danville High School and selected as Miss Danville before heading off to college at the University of Illinois, where she continued her education and musical career playing in the college marching band. Earning her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Illinois.

While hosting a debate event at Northern Illinois University, she met Tom. They began dating and were married June 1, 1968. The pair continued their education at Purdue University, teaching while earning their Ph.D. They welcomed daughter JJ in April 1970 and son Bill in March of 1972. She served on the faculty at University of Illinois, Purdue, Northern Illinois University, Loras College and Central Methodist University.

Moving to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, in 1977 where the couple decided to settle and raise their family. With a career based in education, Donna formed Powercomm Inc. in the eighties and was a communications consultant for companies such as Rockwell Collins, Intermec Technologies among other companies both locally and nationally until retirement a few years ago.

An active member of Cedar Rapids Country Club for 46 years, she enjoyed time with friends and family golfing, time spent around the pool and many other activities. Donna was an avid reader with a large collection of books she acquired throughout her life. She and Tom had many fortunate experiences together with opportunities that took them travelling around the world,but what was enjoyed most was the time they spent fishing in Canada together and with family.

Donna’s family would like to give a special thank-you to Mercy Medical Center and Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House for the wonderful care they gave Donna.
