Donald R. Swenson

Donald R.  (Donny) Swenson, 62, of Somonauk, IL, passed away surrounded by his loved ones, Monday, May 9th at his home near Waterman.  He is the son of Donald and Betty Swenson of Waterman.

Donny graduated from Waterman High School in 1977.

He was a cement finisher for 37 years with OPCMIA Local 11 Area 638 Cement Masons.

He loved working with horses, ponies and sheep while growing up at the family farm, Maple Crest, where he was raised.

Donny loved watching stock car racing, as well as getting behind the wheel.

He is survived by his daughter, Sina (Justin) Swenson-Fatland of Festus, MO, his grandson, Ryder, parents Donald and Betty Swenson of Waterman, his sisters, Debbie (Bobby) Hulsey, of Manilus, Kathy (Mark) Overby of DeKalb, and Gina Swenson (Mack Perry) of Valparaiso, IN, along with many nieces and nephews.  As well as Tammy Johnson, who brought him so much joy and love. And of course, his dog and constant companion – Ole.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, May 16, 2022 at the Nash-Nelson Funeral Home, 1001 E. Garfield St., Waterman, IL. Interment will follow in the Oak Mound Cemetery in Somonauk, IL.  Friends may visit from 1:00 until 4:00 PM on Sunday, May 15, 2022 at the Nash-Nelson Funeral Home in Waterman, IL.

Should friends desire, memorials may be made to Gift of Hope, Organ & Tissue Donor Network. Checks may be made payable to Gift of Hope.

His family is grateful for the kindness and care of Unity Hospice.
