Donald Kay Kennedy

Donald Kay Kennedy, 80, of New Philadelphia, passed away Monday, December 14, 2020 in Community Hospice House at New Philadelphia following a period of declining health.

A son of the late William Emerson Kennedy and the late Mary Elizabeth (Ferrell) Kennedy Paden, Don was born May 23, 1940 at Uhrichsville, Ohio.

Don graduated from Uhrichsville High School in 1958. Then on July 17, 1960, he married the former Lillian Weaver in Grace United Methodist Church at Uhrichsville.

He was a longtime meat cutter and during his career, which spanned 43 years, Don worked at Strasburg Provisions, Superior Meats at Massillon and Goodings Foodliner at Uhrichsville.

Don attended Grace United Methodist Church at Uhrichsville and he was an avid hunter. Most of all, he cherished his family and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lillian Kennedy; his children, Regina (Jason) Willis of Powell Point, North Carolina and Mitchell (Debra) Kennedy of Bolivar; his grandchildren, Zachariah (Rachel) Kennedy and Aleah (Nathan Spencer) Kennedy; a step granddaughter, Brooke (Deke) Trigleth; his great-grandchildren, Henry, Piper and Everett Kennedy and Anabell and Ruby McCarty; his step great-grandchildren, Trey, Emma, Evan and Lydia Trigleth; two brothers, Gary (Judy) Kennedy of Middleburg Heights, Ohio and William (Denice) Kennedy of Dover and many nieces and nephews.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, his step-father, John Paden and a sister, Cheryl Tantarelli.

In keeping with Don’s wishes, cremation will take place and private family services will be held at the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Don’s memory to Community Hospice Truman House, 716 Commercial Avenue SW, New Philadelphia, OH 44663 or to Grace United Methodist Church, 524 West Third Street, Uhrichsville, OH 44683.
