Dixie L. (Boyles) Bierschenk, 71, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2023, at her home in Marion.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 14, 2023, at the Phillips Funeral Home (212 E. Sixth Street) in Vinton. Interment will be held at St. John Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9 to 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home.

Dixie was born on April 17, 1952, in Vinton, the daughter of Howard and Geraldine (Halgren) Boyles. She graduated from Shellsburg Community High School with the Class of 1970. Dixie was united in marriage to Niles Bierschenk at St. John Lutheran Church in Newhall and the couple later divorced. Dixie worked as a medical technologist and C.N.A.

Dixie loved playing cards and enjoyed the outdoors, especially gardening. Her greatest joy, however, were her grandchildren, whom she dearly loved.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Michelle Bierschenk of Cedar Rapids, Trisha Bierschenk of Newhall; three grandchildren, Brannen Hudson of Cedar Rapids, and Ethan and Andrew Hudson of Newhall; four sisters, Beverly (Richard) Schwarting of Williamsburg, Glenda Ferguson of Marion, Cheryl (John) Dlouhy of Marion, Joyce (Richard) Wyckoff of Urbana; brother-in-law, Jerry Cook of Urbana; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Marcia Cook, Rosemary Boyles, Roseann Olmstead, Bonnie Doehrmann; brother, Gary Boyles; two nephews, Mark and John Cook; and her niece Jennifer Ferguson.
