David W. Nietert, 85, of Central City, Iowa, passed into the loving arms of Jesus on Monday, Feb. 27, 2023, at his home. Visitation will be held at 9:30 a.m. until time of service on Saturday, March 4, 2023, at Springville United Methodist Church in Springville, Iowa, with services starting at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Marion is assisting the family.

David was born on Sept. 9, 1937, in Rural Alburnett, Iowa, the son of Raymond and Ione (Powers) Nietert. He was a 1955 graduate of Springville High School before joining the United States Army Reserve. On Jan. 20, 1957, David was united in marriage to Norma I. Bowdish. He was a lifelong dairy farmer and a member of Springville United Methodist Church and a member of the Brown Township Board. David will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

David is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife, Norma Nietert of Central City; daughters, Julie (Vic) Slaymaker of Marion, Iowa, Karla (Steve) Labs of Poincianna, Fla., and Laura (Rob) Howard of Lenexa, Kan.; six grandchildren, Luke (Kallie) Slaymaker, Brock (Maggie) Slaymaker, Andrew (Katie Lynch) Labs, Kayla Haberkorn, Jennifer (Tyler) Rayl, and Heather (Andrew) Sherry; great-grandchildren, Reagan, Rowan, and Rozyln Slaymaker, Oliver and Aiden Haberkorn, Wilder and Everly Rayl, Baby Rayl coming April 2023, and Baby Sherry coming August 2023; and brother, Norman (Mary) Nietert.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
