Dale H. Jones, 81, of Pasadena, Calif., died July 6, 2023, at his home.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Karen Jones; son, Christopher Jones and wife, Chrysti; grandchildren, Lauren, Erin and Jesse Jones of Pasadena. He is also survived by his brother, John Jones and his wife, Connie of Redding, Calif.; sister, Susan Jones; sister, Cathy Rozek and husband, Gary Rozek of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.

Dale was born in Cedar Rapids, in 1941, and came to California while serving in the U.S. Navy 1960-65 during the Vietnam War. Dale and Karen met in California and married in 1970. Together they raised their son Chris and shared in drag racing, rock music and fireworks, along with other exciting pastimes. Dale developed an interest in law enforcement and security, serving as a reserve police officer for Sierra Madre, Calif. This led to his job at Ford Motor Co. for 24 years and becoming security supervisor, retiring in 1996. Dale and Karen later moved to Iowa to spend time with his mother and sisters.

He belonged to the VFW, American Legion and the Cedar Rapids Senior Golf League. He backed the Iowa Hawkeyes and of course, the Green Bay Packers. He made friends easily and found many along the way. Dale and Karen return to California recently to be with their son and family.

Dale’s services are being held at 11 a.m. July 20, at Mountain View Cemetery, Sunrise Chapel, Altadena, Calif. Viewing is from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 19.

In lieu of flowers if desired, a memorial donation may be made to any Veterans Charity, St. Jude Children’s Hospital or charity of the donor’s choice.
