Cindy Asmussen

Iowa City

Cindy Asmussen was born Feb. 28, 1949, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Virginia and Herrold Asmussen. As a youth, she spent many summers in Yellowstone National Park where Herrold was a seasonal ranger. Here her lifelong love for nature, travel, horses and animals in general was born.

After graduation from East High, she attended the University of Iowa. Cindy was later employed by the College of Dentistry Research Institute where she met Albert Doden, her husband, in 1982.

Cindy passed away on Sept. 26, 2023, due to injuries suffered in an automobile accident. Perhaps fittingly, their lovable dog Frank was with her at the time, so they were together as they passed.

She had many friends and acquaintances who were deeply touched by her infectious smile and outgoing personality, as well as by her love of cooking, good food and conversation. She is already greatly missed by those who knew her, including all the pets and horses and fish and flowers she nurtured so carefully and conscientiously.

She enriched our lives immeasurably. We miss you, Cindy.

A celebration of Cindy and her remarkable life will be held at 1142 East Tartan Dr., North Liberty, Iowa, on Sunday, Oct. 8, from 2 to 5 p.m. Additional parking is available a few blocks away at the nearby school west parking lot. Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Solon is in charge of arrangements.

Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.broshchapel.com.
