Born on December 31, 1936, in Newcomerstown, Ohio. Sonny was the son of the late Walter and Emmaline Cronebaugh Lahmers.

He was a founding member of the Tuscarawas County Pork Producers and was instrumental in the formation of the Pork Producer’s food trailer at the Tuscarawas County Fair.

Sonny’s children remember how he often took Sunday evenings off for relaxation time and spent many of those evenings fishing together.
