Charles D. Herman

Charles Daniel Herman, 80, of New Philadelphia, passed away in the Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital on December 23, 2021, following a period of declining health.

Born in New Philadelphia on August 24, 1941, he was the son of the late Charles A. and Dorothy L. (Metzger) Herman.

After graduating from New Philadelphia High School, he honorably served his country in the United States Army. Then, he began his professional career with the former Joy Manufacturing, ultimately retiring with Howden Buffalo after 42 years of service.

Chuck loved being on his family farm and was a charter member of the York Township Volunteer Fire Department. Most importantly, he treasured the title of “grandpa”.

On January 8, 1965, Chuck married his wife, the former Linda S. (German) and enjoyed 56 years of marriage prior to his passing. He will also be deeply missed by his children, Jonathan (Susan) Herman of New Philadelphia, Jamie (Angela) Herman of Stone Creek, and Jolene (Sam) Otte of New Philadelphia; his 9 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren with one expected in the spring; and his 4-legged companion, Cookie.

No public visitation or services are scheduled.
