Charles C. Myers
Charles C. Myers, 76 of Springfield, passed away at 4:53 pm, Monday, March 27, 2023 at Springfield Memorial Hospital. He was born on September 30, 1946 in St. Louis, MO, the son of Thomas and Anna (Collum) Myers. He married Lois J. Delaney on February 9, 1980 and she survives.
Also surviving are his two children, James Cantrall and Melissa (Carl) Mullinax both of Springfield; three grandchildren, Bradly Johnson, Oliver Mullinax, and Quentin Mullinax; one sister, Brenda (Rick) Traughber of Overland Park, KS; two aunts; one uncle and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Christine Johnson.
Charles has been a resident of Springfield for 43 years. He is a graduate of Taylorville High School, Class of 1965, and attended Eastern Illinois University.
He is a US Navy veteran serving during the Vietnam War. Charles retired from Illinois Midland Railroad as an engineer after 30 years of service.
Charles was a huge sports fan and especially enjoyed watching the St. Louis Blues, St. Louis Cardinals, and the Chicago White Sox. He was a member of The Mozart Club and enjoyed many family events over the years.
Graveside Service: 2:00 pm, Thursday, March 30, 2023 at Camp Butler National Cemetery where Sangamon County Interveterans Burial Detail and the United States Navy will conduct military honors.
