Billie June McNeely Huntley

June “Mommaw” Huntley, age 81, of Hendersonville, North Carolina, went to be with the Lord following a long battle with Alzheimer’s on June 11, 2022. A native of Knoxville, Tennessee, she was born to Senate William and Pauline Cox McNeely on July 3, 1940.

A 1958 graduate of Lee Edwards High School, June was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and a three-time Worthy Matron of local chapters of the Eastern Star.

June’s talents were many; she was an accomplished seamstress who handmade Halloween costumes, cooked countless holiday meals and birthday cakes for family members, was a caregiver to others in need, and was a beloved mother and second mother to her grandchildren.

She enjoyed watching her granddaughter’s dance competitions, traveling with her son to Europe, Atlanta Braves baseball, and her three toy poodles, Jacque, Nala, and Lacey.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Monty Huntley.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, David Huntley, and his wife Denise, her daughter, Debbie Owen and her husband Rick, her grandson, Michael Owen and his wife Devika, her granddaughter, Elizabeth Owen, and her brother, Joseph McNeely and his wife Nancy.

In lieu of flowers please consider donating to the Alzheimer’s Association in memory of June. Checks can be made out to: Alzheimer’s Association, PO Box 96011, Washington DC 20090, or donate online at alz.org.
