Betty Lou “Bad Betty” England

Betty Lou England, 81, of Springfield, died on Wednesday, September 8, 2021, at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born March 15, 1940, in Litchfield, to Elmer and Elsie Klekamp, Sr.

Survivors include three daughters, Becky J. England, Brenda L. (Chad) Elam, both of Springfield, and Tammy L. Bolyard of Sherman; four grandchildren, Makayla, Cale and Tenley Elam, and Brixen Bolyard; seven nieces, Sherri (Rick) Dhabalt, Patty Klekamp,  Sheryl (Ron) Bede, Kathy (Gary) Maiworm, Kelly (Steve) Smith, Kristie (Ed) VanDorn, and Stacey (Jon) Herring; four nephews, Rick (Kathy) Wanless, Gary (Patsy) Klekamp, Mark (Merry) Wanless, and Kenny (Sherry) Potterf; and several cousins and great nieces and nephews.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Charlotte Stephens and Luella Wanless, and four brothers, Elmer Klekamp, Jr., Richard Klekamp, Edward, Klekamp, and Russel Klekamp.

Betty worked for Sangamon County Sherriff’s Department, part of the administration for 20 years until retiring in 2018, formally working for Com Microfilm for 20 years.

She was a member of First United Methodist. Betty enjoyed golfing, cooking and loved playing cards with friends at home and at the Senior Center.  What brought her the most joy was spending time with her daughters and grandchildren.

Visitation: 4 – 8 pm, Monday, September 13, 2021 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.

Cremation rites will be accorded by Staab Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Senior Center, Sangamon County Honor Guard or the C.O.P.S. program.

CDC protocol shall be followed.
