Barry “Bear” Arthur Adams, 74, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Monday, Dec. 26, 2022. A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 29, 2022, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids. In accordance with Barry’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. Burial with military honors will take place at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 31, 2022, at Linwood Cemetery in Cedar Rapids.
Barry was born Sept. 2, 1948, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Buss and Corene (Hagen) Adams. He graduated from Jefferson High School, Class of 1966. Barry served as a Ranger in the United States Army. He was united in marriage to Cheryl Boal. Barry worked as a machinist for Terex until his retirement in 2008. He was a member of the Masons and VFW Post #788. Barry had the utmost respect for the military and was very patriotic. He enjoyed working with his hands and collecting coins and arrowheads. Barry loved football, pizza and beer, and going for long rides. He enjoyed driving to Cracker Barrel in Davenport for dinner. Barry loved his dogs.
Survivors include his wife, Cheryl Adams; son, Bradey Adams; daughter, Ami (Clay) Stephens; stepdaughter, Jennifer; stepson, David; and grandchildren, Declan Adams, Wyatt Adams, Hunter A., Elana Brecht, and Clayton Brecht.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Buss and Corene Adams; sister, Margo K. Wodstrchill; and nephew, Travis Thies.
Memorials may be directed to Veterans Affairs or the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown, Iowa.
