Barbara Joan Harris Murphey Helms of Cedar Rapids, Iowa passed away on July 19, 2024, at the age of 85.
Barb was born in Bartlesville, OK on Feb. 19, 1939. She married Frank L. Murphey in 1956 (deceased in 1975) and married Russell G. Helms in 1977 (deceased in 2018).
Barb is survived by her children Debbie Wilson, Frank (Mechelle) Murphey, Vickie (Bo) Boudonck, Rick (Sally) Murphey, Julie (Kevin) Titus and Jason (Brandy) Murphey. 9 grandchildren, Luke (Anna) Wilson, Zach Murphey, Sam Murphey, Billy (Jera) Meier, Kyle (Kaire) Titus, Elizabeth (Sam) Dyson, Cole Murphey, Kenna Murphey and Taylor (Taylor) Boudonck. 10 great grandchildren, 20 step grandchildren and 13 step great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by 2 step grandchildren.
Barb had a special place in her heart for Danny Dean (Krystal) Long and her sidekick Merna McClain, along with special friends Jim Kane and Michele Van Thourmout. Barb enjoyed watching sports (Cubs), bowling, bingo, Moose Lodge and hanging out with her friends.
A celebration of life will be held Aug 31, 2024, from 11:30am-3:00pm at JW’s Pub, 58 Miller Ave SW, Cedar Rapids, IA. Food and pop will be provided.
Family and fiends will miss her contagious laughter. It will echo in the hearts of all those she loved. Barb was full of life and did it her way.
