Anna Swinderman

Anna F. Swinderman, age 94, of New Philadelphia, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 23, 2021, following a period of declining health.

Born in Dover, Ohio on August 11, 1927, Anna was the daughter of the late Carl E. and Alverda Lengler Lahmers. She was a graduate of Dover High School and furthered her education Kent State University and went on to receive a Master’s Degree from Ashland University. For more than 20 years, Anna taught at Dover Elementary where she was a reading teacher.

Her faith was nurtured at the New Philadelphia Church of the Nazarene where she taught Sunday School, served in various mission outreach capacities throughout the years. Anna was known as loving and caring, and had a strong work ethic which she instilled in her family. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, caring for her flowers, sewing and reading.

On August 8, 1945, Anna married Lloyd E. Swinderman. Together, the couple raised two sons and shared in many vacations, travels and mission trips during their 69 years of marriage prior to Lloyd’s passing on January 10, 2015.

Surviving are a son, Richard Swinderman of New Philadelphia; her grandsons, Ryan (Lori) Swinderman of Pennsylvania, Kyle (Terra) Swinderman of Florida, Adam (Ellie) Swinderman of Northfield, Ohio, and Rev. Cory (Rachel) Swinderman of Illinois; 12 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Anna was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Swinderman; a daughter-in-law, Cheryl Swinderman, and her brothers, Ralph, Elden, and Ted Lahmers.

The family will greet guests on Tuesday, September 28, 2021, from 10 – 11 AM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia where Pastor Mark Maddux will lead a celebration of Anna’s life in the funeral home’s chapel at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia. Following the services, all are invited to join the family for a time of food and fellowship in the New Philadelphia Church of the Nazarene.
