William Gnam

William Charles Gnam (Bill), 59 of San Diego, CA passed away on February 20, 2025 in San Diego. Bill was born and raised in Denver, Colorado to Louis and Janice Gnam on June 20, 1965. He went to Cherry Creek High School in Englewood Colorado and graduated in 1983. He went on to work in the food industry and became an Executive Chef in San Diego and other parts of the US. His love for cooking brought many friends and family to his many tables. As a teenager he began scuba diving. His passion grew and led him to travel the world’s oceans, and he thrived on visiting remote and new cultures. His tastes for the exotic lead to influences in his cooking and he was known for preparing incredible seafood and more. He worked for many fine restaurants in San Diego and is survived by many workers in the industry who became his CA family. Bill was a passionate, creative, loving man who lived to be of service to others through good healthy food, kindness and generosity, sense of humor, and passion for travel.

Bill is survived by his older sister Carol (husband Brian; nephew Sean and Brian’s sons Sam and Ben) of Mukilteo, WA; older sister Martha (husband Mark; niece Amanda and nephew Jackson) of Santa Fe, New Mexico. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to your favorite ocean conservation organizations. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Sharp Memorial hospital for their care. Bill was respected and well loved by friends all over the world and will be missed. Arrangements are under Balboa Cremation in San Diego, CA.
