The National Weather Service has now updated the fire weather watch to a red flag warning.

The National Weather Service has issued a fire weather watch for the Northern Sierra front starting Saturday at 11 a.m. through Sunday 11 p.m., due to high temperatures, low humidity, gusty winds, and isolated lightning for parts of Western Nevada and the Eastern Sierra.

The fire weather watch advises people to limit outdoor activity that can cause a spark near dry vegetation such as yard work, target shooting, or campfires.

Temperatures are expected to soar well into the 90s throughout the region, and will peak on Saturday to 95 degrees in Carson City, with the potential to break records.

It is advised to exercise increased caution if recreating on the water as rivers in the region will be running cold and fast because of snow melt.

National Weather Service weekend highs forecast for Carson City

Friday, May 30: 93 degrees

Saturday, May 31: 95 degrees

Sunday, June 1: 88 degrees
