Wai Sheung Yee

Mrs. Wai-Sheung Yee passed away on October 7, 2025, at the age of 83. She was born on November 15, 1941, in China and immigrated to Hong Kong during her formative years. It was there that she met and married her beloved husband, Mr. Wah Too Yee. As a young couple—with their first son and another child on the way—they moved to New York City in 1966 to build a future for their growing family. Tragically, Mrs. Yee lost her husband who passed away at the young age of 40.  In the face of unimaginable loss, she showed extraordinary resilience, raising her children on her own with quiet strength, perseverance and unwavering love and support. In her later years, her greatest joy came from nurturing—and especially cooking for—her eight grandchildren.  She enjoyed ballroom dancing and learning to play the Erhu, a traditional Chinese two-stringed instrument.  She was the heart of the family: present, generous and deeply devoted.

Playing an important role in Hing and Betty’s family, she gave her love, attention, and care to their five young children. They could not have managed without her unwavering support.  Her presence in Rosa’s life was filled with special moments and deep affection. Though Nina and Nick were “far away” in Boston, they were always in her thoughts (and worries) and their visits brought her great joy. They were the center of her world and she was never happier than when they were all together with her.

She is survived by her three children, their partners, and her grandchildren: Hing Yee and Betty Yu, and their children Matthew (23), Megan (22), Madelyn (19), Marcus (14), and Melissa (7) William Yee and Mona Wu, and their children Nina (24) and Nicholas (21) Yvonne Yee and Gabe Romero, and their daughter Rosa (15). Mrs. Yee’s legacy of love, strength, and family devotion will live on through all who knew and cherished her. If you wish to honor her memory, flowers may be ordered through Brighten Florist: 24 Mulberry Street, New York, 212-619-1188.
