Trails to close throughout Carson City as Wildland firefighters, Parks and Rec team up for fuel (dead plant matter) reduction
- October 22, 2025

The Wildland Crew will be starting a new fuels-reduction project this Monday, October 27th, at Riverview Park in partnership with Carson City Parks and Recreation.
This project will focus on mastication work — breaking down and removing dead sagebrush that was damaged during a past river flood. Clearing this vegetation not only improves the landscape’s health but also helps reduce wildfire risk in the area.
Stay tuned for next Wednesday to see the results of the treatment and the progress made!
