Susan Jane Lawson, 78, of Dickson Point Road, Plattsburgh, died Monday, October 13, 2025, at The University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington, Vermont, with her loving family by her side.
She was born in Plattsburgh, November 10, 1946, the daughter of Charles Joseph and Margaret Jane (Hamelin) Carr.
Susan was a nurse for Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital for many years. She worked in the ER, OR, OR Recovery, Kidney Dialysis, and Endoscopy.
She was a member of the Beekmantown Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and proudly supported North Country Honor Flight and Veterans.
She enjoyed horseback riding, kayaking, cross country skiing, and knitting. One of her favorite things to do was to go out to eat with family and friends and get soft serve ice cream in a waffle cone for dessert.
She loved her beloved dogs Bodie, Emma, and Abby.
Left to cherish the memory of Susan are, her son, RJ and his wife Pamela; granddaughter, Erin; great-grandson, Jeremiah James “JJ”; sisters, Nancy (Glen) Elmore of VA, Janice Gumtow of CA, Betty Ebere of NY, Judy (Kenny) Otis of PA, Toma (Mickey) Matott of KY, and Joni Carr and her partner Jesse Taylor of NY; very special niece, Jodi Underwood of NY, who was very near and dear to her heart; and many adddional, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Michael Lawson, in 2013.
At Susan’s request there will be no public services. Interment will be in the Point Au Roche Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please consider of making a donation in her memory to Elmore’s SPCA or the North Country Honor Flight.
