It is with profound sadness that we mourn the passing of our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Steven D. Beligratis. Born in Chicago, Steven was the only child of Demosthenes and Stavroula Beligratis.
He will be greatly missed by his loving wife, Matina, of 66 years, and will be remembered with much affection by his children, James (Kathryn), Estelle (Nicholas) Nicholson, and Joanne (the late Nicholas) Allans. He was the beloved grandfather of Kristina and Steven Beligratis, Andrea and Matthew Nicholson, and Nicole and Emily Allans. He cherished them all. He was the fond brother-in-law of Becki (the late George) Kamberos, the late Lambros Kutrubis, and Spero (Donna) Kutrubis.
Steve was a graduate of Crane Technical High School in Chicago and the University of Chicago where he earned his Bachelor’s degree and MBA. Steve enjoyed a 39-year tenure at John Nuveen and Company becoming an Officer and Vice President of Research. He was a friend and mentor to many.
His Greek heritage was a source of great pride for him. He was fluent in Greek and traveled to Greece many times with his family. We will remember him for his intelligence, honesty, and integrity. We will treasure the many memories we have of his love, kindness, and humor. We will miss him but he will always be in our hearts.
May his memory be eternal.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Steve’s name to St. Nectarios Greek Orthodox Church, 133 S. Roselle Road, Palatine, IL 60067.
Family and friends will meet Thursday, October 9, 2025 at St. Nectarios Greek Orthodox Church for visitation at 9:30 am until the time of the funeral service at 10:30 am. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Barrington, IL.
