It is with the deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, and friend, Stephen A. “Steve” Szymanski.
Born December 10, 1951, Steve was a man of quiet strength and immense kindness. He was our rock, and his unwavering love and support shaped our lives.
After a distinguished 42-year career as a general manager in strategic planning at U.S. Steel, he devoted his retirement to serving the community of Glen Ellyn. He was recently elected as a Village Trustee, a role he undertook with the same dedication he applied to everything in his life.
He taught us the importance of giving back through his actions, like volunteering with educational foundations such as the Partnership for Educational Progress and mentoring local students.
He was the one we turned to for advice and the person we celebrated with. His greatest pride was always his family. He is now reunited with his siblings, Paul Szymanski and Bobbie Roeske, and his beloved late wife and fellow Glenbard East alumna, Liza (Gowdy) Szymanski.
He is lovingly remembered by his two sons and five cherished grandchildren. Our hearts are broken by this loss, but his legacy of integrity, service, and devotion to family will live on in all of us.
A visitation will be held at Brust Funeral Home, Lombard, IL, on August 12, from 3:00 to 8:00 pm. We are so grateful for the time we had with him and will miss him forever.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Partnership for Educational Progress, Glen Ellyn.
