Sally Mae Nylund, age 83, of Rhinelander, died peacefully on September 3, 2025, in Rhinelander. She was born on November 19, 1942, in Crandon, Wisconsin, the daughter of Donald and Marge (James) Newman.
Sally was a lifelong resident of Rhinelander. She attended schools in Rhinelander, graduating from the Rhinelander High School in 1960. She was employed by the Rhinelander School District and then Drs Foster and Smith. She alsio opened up the Mode O Day women’s clothing store which she owned and operated for a number of years. She really enjoyed running the store more than any of her other work.
She married Edwin Nylund in Rhinelander and he preceded her in death on March 27, 2014.
Sally enjoyed several activities outside of her work. She loved going to flea markets and garage sales with her mother and most of all she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Sally is survived by her three children, Edwina (Dennis) Thiel of Crandon, Andrew (Pamela) Nylund of Tomahawk and Wayne (Sunnie) Nylund of Rhinelander, her seven grandchildren, Deadrah, Derek, Eric, Jacob, Michael, Devin and Christopher, her four great grandchildren, her brother Kenneth (Nancy) Newman, other family and many friends.
Visitation for Sally will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2025 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM with memorial services following at 11:00 AM, all at the Carlson Funeral Home. Reverend Karl Schultz will be officiating. Interment will follow at the Northland Garden Mausoleum. A complete notice will follow shortly.
