Clinton-Ruth M. (Johnson) Murphy, 84, died suddenly at home on Friday, September 19, 2025 after being stricken ill. She is survived by her beloved husband of 61 years, Roger E. Murphy; their children and spouses, Shawn P. Murphy & Christine; Colleen Dunne & John; daughter-in-law, Laura Murphy; seven grandchildren, Connor Murphy & wife Ariella, Evan Murphy, McKayla Murphy & husband Nathan Grimes, Sheriden Murphy, Gavin Murphy, Jamieson Dunne, and Nolan Dunne; two great-grandchildren, Shawn Patrick Grimes and Beau Ross Phillips. She leaves her brother, Bruce Johnson; many extended sisters and brothers-in-law, whom were a big part of her life; generations of nieces, nephews, and many dear friends. She is pre-deceased by her son, Patrick E. Murphy, sister-in-law and dear friend, Suzanne Murphy.
Daughter of the late Fridolf & Ruth (Westlund) Johnson, Ruth was a life-long resident of Auburn before moving to Clinton in 2018. She was a graduate of Auburn High School, Class of 1959. She began and maintained her career as a Financial Assistant for UMass Medical Center in the psychiatry department. She also, alongside her husband Roger, successfully owned and operated Demers Auto Service at 616 West Boylston Street in Worcester, where she served as the Treasurer for over twenty-five years until retiring in 2010. Aside from work, she and Roger participated regularly in golf, candlepin bowling, and cards leagues. They enjoyed cruising and traveling to various states and countries and annual trips to Las Vegas. Later in life, together they were seasonal campers in Weare, NH where they made everlasting memories with their precious grandchildren. Friday lunches with Peter and Lorri Murphy were always special to her. Talented in the art of crochet, Ruth created countless afghans, hats, and blankets that she generously shared with all those she loved and gifted to comfort others. Above all, she was a devoted matriarch, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
