Roxanne Janes
Roxanne M. Janes, age 73, of Faribault, passed away on Sunday, May 11, 2025 from a short battle with cancer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Divine Mercy Catholic Church, Faribault on Friday, May 16, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Faribault.
Visitation will be at Boldt Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Faribault on Thursday, May 15 from 4 to 7 p.m. and also at church for one hour prior to the service on Friday.
Roxanne was born on June 20, 1951, in Faribault, MN, to Charleen (Delesha) and Robert Hanson. Roxanne was the oldest of three children. They grew up on a farm near Cannon City. After graduating from Bethlehem Academy, Roxanne continued her studies at Winona State and graduated with a teaching degree. Later, she went back and received her Library Media Specialist degree. Her first job moved her to Hendricks, MN, where she taught English and was the Theatre Director. There, a couple of her students introduced her to her future husband. She married Robert Janes on June 14, 1975, in Faribault at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Two children came from the union: Jacqueline (Jackie) in 1977, and Jeraline (Jeri) in 1978.
Roxanne was a teacher and/or librarian for many different schools during her career – Hendricks Public Schools, Hendricks, MN; Consolidated Catholic Schools, Faribault, MN; Mankato State University, Mankato, MN; Hall Montessori, Minneapolis, MN; Owatonna Junior High School, Owatonna, MN; and Waterville-Elysian-Morristown Schools, Morristown, MN. She also directed several plays over the years and coached High School Speech. In addition to teaching, Roxanne involved herself in summer speech camps, Girl Scouts, and as a Lector and Eucharistic Minister at Immaculate Conception and later at Divine Mercy Catholic Church.
Roxanne is survived by her husband of 49 years, Robert; her daughter, Jackie (Chuck) Slama; two granddaughters, Charlotte and Ceiliah Slama; one sister, Diane Hanson; extended family members, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Roxanne was preceded in death by her daughter, Jeri; her parents, Robert and Charleen Hanson; her brother, Darrell Hanson; and extended family, including aunts, uncles, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Vincent De Paul, Faribault.
