Roger Andrew Olson, aged 78, of Littlefork, Minnesota, passed away peacefully due to natural causes on October 16, 2025. He was born on May 7, 1947, in Littlefork, where he spent the majority of his life.

Roger proudly served his country as a paratrooper in the Vietnam War, exhibiting bravery and dedication that defined his character. Following his military service, he embarked on a successful career as a heavy equipment operator in the construction industry, where he was known for his diligence and expertise.

A man of great strength and compassion, Roger celebrated 26 years of sobriety. He was a beacon of hope to many, sponsoring numerous individuals on their journeys to sobriety, fostering a sense of community and support among those he touched.

Roger had a profound love for animals, dedicating much of his time to rescuing those in need. He also found great joy and relaxation in mowing lawns, often volunteering to maintain the lawns of his neighbors, bringing a sense of pride and joy to his community.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Clara (Christianson) Olson; his beloved sisters, Julie and Irene; and his brothers, Jerry and Fred. He is survived by his son, Roger Olson Jr.; his daughter, Kim Newell; his cherished companion, Pat Larson; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and his sister, Carol.

A graveside service to honor and celebrate Roger’s life will be held at a later date. The family kindly requests that those who wish to pay their respects keep Roger’s memory alive through acts of kindness and compassion, reflecting the values he held dear.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to local animal shelters in Roger’s memory, honoring his lifelong love for animals.
