CHURCH POINT ~ Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at an 11:00 a.m. Liturgy of the Word in Melancon Funeral Home, Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel in Carencro for Robert Labbe’, Jr., age 72, who passed away Saturday, October 18, 2025 at his residence in Church Point.
Interment will be in St. Peter Roman Catholic Cemetery. Deacon David Menard will officiate at the services.
Mr. Labbe’ was a native of Bristol and longtime resident of Church Point. A dedicated and hard-working man, he was employed with Slemco for over 32 years, where he earned the respect of colleagues and friends alike.
A veteran of the military, Mr. Labbe’ proudly served his country in the United States Army Reserve. Known for his genuine heart and passion for the things he loved, Mr. Labbe’ was a man of simple joys and thoughtful craftsmanship. He was especially proud of his impeccable model train set, a true labor of love that showcased his attention to detail and creativity. His beloved cat, “Chu Chu,” was never far from his side, a fitting companion for a man who found beauty in small, meaningful things.
An outdoorsman at heart, Mr. Labbe’ found peace and satisfaction in nature, cutting grass, tending to his yard, or simply enjoying the fresh air. He also loved a good game of pool, always up for friendly competition and conversation.
Mr. Labbe’ leaves behind a legacy of kindness, and the kind of care that showed in everything he did, from his yard to his trains, and most importantly, to the people around him.
Survivors include his sister, Arlene Marie Labbe’ Dupre of Church Point; nephew, Todd Dupre and his wife, Page; his great nieces, Maryann Dupre, Samantha Ferguson, Tess Dupre; great nephew, Braden Dupre; and great-great nephew, Waylon Guillory.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Labbe’, Sr. and the former Cephor Marie Prejean; and two brothers, John Larry Labbe’ and Harold Lee Labbe’.
A rosary will be prayed at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
The family requests visiting hours be observed from 8:00 a.m. Wednesday until service time on Wednesday.
