Richard Sewell

Richard C. “Rip” Sewell, 83, of Poughkeepsie, NY passed away on Saturday, April 19, 2025 at the Hudson Valley Hospice House in Hyde Park. He was born on February 19, 1942 in Poughkeepsie, NY, the son of Edward and Marie Billows Sewell. 

Rip served in the United States Army Reserves and worked as the Assistant Commissioner of Health of Dutchess County.

He is survived by his wife, Yvonne Sewell and his siblings John Sewell and Jessie Sewell. He was predeceased by his brother William Sewell.

There are no calling hours. A Celebration of life will be held for family and friends on Sunday, May 18, 2025 from 430PM-630PM at the Pirate Canoe Club in Poughkeepsie, NY.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rip’s name to the American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.
