PENNY COMBS

Penny Christine Combs, 62, of Florahome passed away Wednesday, May 14, 2025 at HCA Florida North Florida Hospital in Gainesville following a brief illness.

Born in Roanoke, Virginia, Penny had lived in Putnam County since 1989 coming from Jacksonville. A homemaker and member of Lake Hill Baptist Church in Keystone Heights, Penny had been a member of the George’s Lake Area Volunteer Fire Department for over 20 years and a member of the Ladies Around the Lake group. In her leisure time, she enjoyed sewing and spoiling her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Besides her parents, Melvin William Stanley and Mary Ellen Kesseler, she was preceded in death by her brother, Melvin William Stanley, Jr.; and her sister and brother-in-law, Deb and Jerry Robinson.

Survivors include her husband of 45 years, Richard A. Combs of Florahome; daughters, Penny Danielle Johnson (Robert) of Green Cove Springs, and Rebecca Christine Paul of Jacksonville; father-in-law, Richard E. Combs of Jacksonville; brother, Jeff Stanley of Troutville, VA; sister, Cindy McCallum of Pensacola, FL; six grandchildren, Jennifer, Katie, Andrew, Adam, Guenevere, and Naomi; and two great grandchildren, Emmitt Brown and Adeline Grace Boivin, and a great grand baby Brown on the way.

Funeral services will be 7 p.m. Monday, May 19, 2025 at Masters Funeral Home in Palatka with Pastor Will Smith officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home beginning an hour before the start of the service.

A graveside service and burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 20, 2025 in Keystone Heights Cemetery with Bro. Jim Coleman officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Lake Hill Baptist Church, 5165 CR 214, Keystone Heights, FL 32656.
