Pedro Guerrero

Pedro Guerrero, 68, a longtime resident of Altus, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully at his home on August 26, 2025.

He was born in Empalme Escobedo, Guanajuato in Mexico, to Antonio Breña and Amalia Guerrero. At the age of 16, Pedro made the journey to Altus to begin building a new life. Soon after his arrival, he went to work on the irrigation canal from Lake Lugert to Snyder. In 1977, he joined PCCA, where his skill and determination quickly stood out. Known for his mechanical talent, he became a trusted forklift mechanic-someone who could fix absolutely anything. His attitude was simple: “just get it done.”

On February 5, 1980, Pedro married the love of his life, Tomasita Martinez, in Altus. The two first met by chance at a carnival in town, a meeting that grew into a lifelong partnership rooted in family, love, and faith.

Pedro was a man of many passions. He loved soccer-both playing and coaching his children’s teams-and enjoyed all sports. He had a gift for fabrication and welding, and he took joy in collecting odds and ends, trinkets, and tools. He especially loved fixing up old trucks, often inviting his kids to “go drive around the world,” which really meant cruising the streets of Altus or countryside together.

Above all, Pedro valued family. He was strong-willed and resilient, deeply loyal, humble, and kind. He never met a stranger, always willing to lend a hand to those in need. To his family, he was their strength-an anchor who instilled strong values and created countless cherished memories.

Preceded in death by his parents, maternal grandmother Juanita Ledesma; paternal grandmother Marcela Brena; son David Guerrero; brother David Brena; sister Juanita Breña; and sister Demetria Breña.

Pedro’s legacy lives on in his wife, Tomasita Guerrero; sons Jose Guerrero and Pedro Antono Guerrero; daughter Guadalupe Guerrero-McDaniel and husband Robert; grandchildren Amalia Marcela McDaniel, Jose Pedro Santigo Guerrero, Samydah Isabel Guerrero, David Antono Ezequiel Guerrero; brothers Eduardo Breña, Jose Antonio Breña, and Ruben Breña; sisters Maria Ascencion Breña, Amalia Breña, and Maria Auxilio Breña; and first cousin Evaristo Guerrero and many more cousins, and friends who loved him. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose intelligence, humor, and generosity touched everyone he met.

A memorial service honoring Pedro Guerrero will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at Lowell – Tims Funeral Home Chapel.

Cremation arrangements and funeral services have been entrusted to Lowell – Tims Funeral Home and Crematory, Altus, Oklahoma.
