Paul David Eye June 4, 1938 – October 9, 2025
Paul David Eye, 87, of Vacaville, California, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2025, after a brief illness.
Born on June 4, 1938, in Sugar Grove, West Virginia, the son of Retha (Hoover) and Marvin Eye, Paul grew up on the Thorn in Franklin, WV, before leaving home to serve his country in the U.S. Navy. During his military service, Paul deployed in support of Operation Deep Freeze in Antarctica. He later continued his dedication to the nation by joining the U.S. Army, where he completed two tours in Vietnam.
After his service, Paul settled in California, where he worked at Mare Island Naval Shipyard in Vallejo. He proudly served as a Transportation Supervisor until his retirement. Paul enjoyed baseball, golf, and fishing throughout his life, and he was a devoted fan of the Washington Redskins and the West Virginia Mountaineers. Even after retiring, he remained active in his community, working as a Crossing Guard for the Vacaville Police Department and City Coach Bus Driver until the COVID-19 pandemic prompted his final retirement.
Paul is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Eye; his children, Kenneth (Rosa), Tami (Dave), and Leah (Otha); his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his brothers, Robert (Bobby) of Illinois and Wesley (Debby) of Florida; and his aunt, many cousins and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Retha (Hoover) and Marvin Eye, his brother Jerry, and his sister Nellie.
He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and patriot who deeply loved God, family, and country. Paul’s family and friends will cherish his memory and the legacy of kindness, humor, and service he leaves behind.
Burial Service
Paul will be buried at the Sacramento California National Cemetery with full military honors.
