Patsy Ritchie
Patsy Lee Ritchie, 84, of Glade Spring, VA passed away on Saturday, March 8, 2025 in the Commonwealth Senior Living Center in Abingdon, VA. She was a life long resident of Washington County, VA born on January 1, 1941, a daughter of the late John Edgar Childress and Bessie Mae Trivett Childress. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Dean Ritchie; and five sisters and four brothers.
She had lived in the Widener Valley Community most of her life and was a retired clerk from Washington County, VA Treasurer’s Office. She enjoyed bluegrass music, line dancing, crocheting, and spending time with her family, especially her grandkids. She was of the Baptist faith.
Patsy is survived by two sons, Mike Ritchie and special friend, Marsha Ritchie, and Tony Ritchie and wife, Laurie; a sister, Maxine Ritchie; a brother, Johnny Childress; four grandchildren, Tonya Elliott, Megan Harris and husband, Ryan, Chris Ritchie and wife, Monica, and Travis Ritchie and wife, Morgan; nine great grandchildren, Aidan Elliott, Ally Elliott, Abby Elliott, Pierce Ritchie, Sloane Ritchie, Kendall Ritchie, Blair Ritchie, Gus Harris, and Lily Harris; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Harold Gilley and Herbie and Floyce DeBusk; and many other special friends that she shared her love of music with.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm Wednesday, March 12, 2025 at Garrett Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm Wednesday in the Riverview Chapel at Garrett Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Ritchie officiating. The committal service and interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Damascus, VA. Flowers will be accepted or in lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
