Pablo “Shorty” Gonzalez Jr., a cherished son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on the 8th of May, 2025, in Provo, Utah, at the age of 35. Born on March 4, 1990, in Paramount, California, Shorty grew up as a beacon of light and a source of endless joy to all who knew him.

Shorty’s early life in California was marked by his infectious laughter and an unwavering commitment to his family, which included his father Pablo Gonzalez Sr., his mother Josefina Gonzalez, his brother Salvador Gonzalez, his sisters Rocio Pintos and Marisol Sanchez, and his youngest brother Alejandro Gonzalez. Shorty was also a beloved uncle to Jonathan, Victoria, Ava, Aidan, and Amelia, who will miss his playful spirit and kind guidance.

A standout student and athlete, Shorty attended Cal State Fullerton on an academic and sports scholarship, where he majored in Health. His passion for sports was evident through his active involvement in high school varsity basketball and soccer. He was not only a team player but also a leader, crowned Homecoming King in recognition of his positive influence and school spirit.

Despite facing personal challenges, including overcoming schizophrenia and addiction, Shorty’s resilience and optimism never wavered. He was a true testament to the power of determination and the human spirit’s capacity to triumph over adversity. His journey inspired many, and his legacy is one of courage and hope.

Shorty’s love for sports extended well beyond his academic career. He was an ardent supporter of the LA Galaxy, the LA Lakers, and the LA Dodgers, often found cheering on his favorite teams surrounded by friends and family. His enthusiasm for the games was only matched by his love for enjoying good food with his loved ones, where his laughter and storytelling would fill the room.

Those who were fortunate enough to know Shorty will remember him as a man of great character—optimistic, kind, and funny. His ability to light up a room with his humor and warmth was unparalleled. He was a friend who listened without judgment, a brother who offered unwavering support, and a son who brought immense pride to his parents.
