Obe T. Johnson, Jr., 80, of Ottawa, passed away on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 at Allure of Mendota.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at the Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa with Rev. Lloyd Johnson, Pastor of Utica Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Freedom Lutheran Cemetery in Ottawa where Full Military Rites will be accorded by the American Legion Post 33 Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
Obe was born on August 22, 1944 in Streator to Obe and Clarice (Erickson) Johnson. For most of his life, Obe farmed alongside his dad, Obe Sr. and his two sons. He also enjoyed many years participating in local tractor rides with his sons and other family. He worked for Transco in Streator for 36 years. Obe was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during the Vietnam War. He married Sandra “Sandy” Husemann on September 17, 1966 at St. Columba Church in Ottawa. Obe attended Utica Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife Sandy Johnson, of Ottawa; two children, Jeffrey M. Johnson, of Ottawa, Tammi (Bruce) McGinn, of Seffner, FL; three grandsons, Kayden, Nathan, and Patrick (Robin) McGinn; one great-grandson, Rowan McGinn; three sisters, Marlene Gillispie, Barb Cantlin, and Nancy Fatland; and two foster grandchildren, Kareem and Aniyah Scott.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Obe and Clarice Johnson; and a son, Steven Johnson.
Pallbearers will be Robert Husemann, Jason Donahue, Justin Fatland, Garett Tucker, Dylan Tucker, and Oliver Blum.
