A public hearing will be held Monday for a deferred energy rate adjustment application from NV Energy that, if approved, would lower Northern Nevada customer bills by around $1.17 a month.

The June 9 hearing is from 1 to 6 p.m. at 1150 East William Street in Carson City. The hearing will also be held in Las Vegas, 9075 West Diablo Drive, Suite 250. The hearing will be video conferenced. A live link to the hearing will be available on the PUCN’s website here. On the homepage, click on “Calendar – LISTEN LIVE!” to find that link.

NV Energy has filed deferred energy accounting applications for its Northern Nevada electric and natural gas operations and Southern Nevada electric operations., according to the PUCN. In the applications, NV Energy seeks PUCN approval of its 2024 fuel and purchased power expenses and its proposed reset of rates to account for changes in costs related to renewable energy and energy efficiency programs.

For Northern Nevada electric customers, NVE proposes to decrease rates by an estimated $14 million, or approximately 1.42 percent across all rate classes, which would result in an estimated decrease in the average monthly residential bill of $1.17, or approximately 1.21 percent.

For Southern Nevada electric customers, NVE proposes to decrease rates by an estimated $13.57 million, or 0.57 percent across all rate classes, which would result in an estimated decrease in the average monthly residential bill of $0.44, or approximately 0.34 percent.

Representatives from the Nevada Bureau of Consumer Protection (BCP) will participate in the consumer sessions. The BCP, which is part of the Nevada Attorney General’s Office (775-684-1100), represents the collective interests of residential and small business customers in PUCN proceedings.

The BCP’s role is to advocate for reliable utility service at the lowest reasonable cost for those consumers. PUCN Regulatory Operations Staff and NVE representatives will also attend.

Public comment will be limited to the contents of these applications and may be limited to three minutes per speaker. A hearing on these matters is scheduled to begin Wednesday, July 16, at 10 a.m.

Information about these applications can be found on the PUCN’s website: puc.nv.gov. From the top navigational bar on the home page, select “Dockets” to view Docket Nos. 25- 02033, 25-02034 or 25-02035.
