Neil Gollogly
- June 2, 2025

Neil Francis Gollogly, age 92, passed away peacefully at home in Yorktown Heights, NY, just before sunrise on June 1, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in 1932 in Tarrytown, Neil was the son of Neil T. Gollogly and Anna Daly, hardworking Scottish immigrants. As a first-generation American, Neil lived a life defined by selflessness, service, and devotion to both family and community. When he was a young boy, he delivered newspapers and served as an altar boy at St. Theresa’s Parish where he also attended grammar school. He graduated from North Tarrytown High School where he excelled as a member of the track team. In 1951, he was drawn to military service and enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he trained as an electrician and developed a lifelong love for the sea.
After his Navy days, Neil settled in Millwood, NY, with his beloved wife Katherine (Kae), where they raised five children. He was an Electrician Foreman at Reader’s Digest for many years. He joined the Millwood Fire Company in 1958, moving his way up the ranks, and in 1969, he was named Fire Chief. However, tragedy struck that same year when Kae died in a car accident, leaving Neil a widower and single father to five young children. His strong values and faith shaped the family he raised and the legacy he leaves behind.
In 1976, Neil found love again and married Nan, and in 1983, welcomed his 6th child.
Neil never stopped volunteering. He rose through the ranks of community leadership, eventually becoming a Fire Commissioner of the Millwood Fire District. He played a pivotal role in securing plans for a new firehouse, laying the groundwork for future generations of first responders. He was also a charter member of the Westchester County Parade Judges Association, enjoying the fellowship and tradition of the region’s fire service.
Neil will always be remembered for his integrity, fierce work ethic, sense of humor, and friendly smile.
Neil is survived by his devoted wife of 49 years, Nan; his children Neil (Beth) Gollogly of Harpswell, ME; Thomas Gollogly of Mt. Kisco, NY; Kathy (Stan) Heist of Ellicott City, MD; Marianne Reba of Aurora, CO; Douglas (Kate) Gollogly of Yorktown Heights, NY and daughter-in-law Sandy Gollogly of Fairfax VA. He was the proud grandfather of Kate, Kelly, Kevin, Taylor, Neil, Kim, Scott, Erin, and Grace, and great-grandfather to one-year-old Pippen.
He was predeceased by his sister Mary (Frank) Galgano and his beloved son Kevin Gollogly of Fairfax, VA.
