Naomi Tharp

Naomi Tharp, 91, of Fredericktown passed away on Thursday morning, June 19, 2025 at Morrow Manor Nursing Home in Chesterville surrounded by her family. She was born on November 13, 1933 in Lexington to the late Leonard and Geneva (Gaddis) Mowry.

Naomi worked for the Dana Corporation in Fredericktown before moving to Florida with husband, Floyd. She spent 29 years in Florida enjoying the beautiful weather, playing cards and bingo and golfing. While in Florida, Naomi worked for Florida Southern College and had 2 hole in ones while golfing. In 2010, she moved back to Ohio to be closer to family.

Naomi is survived by her daughters, Rebecca (Dennis) Creamer of Mansfield, Connie Lee of Mount Gilead, and Susie (Jim) Braddock of Fredericktown; grandchildren, Shad (Jenna) Creamer, Ryan Creamer, Rebecca Mortimer, Corey (Kim) Mortimer, Summer (Mike) Chalfan, Casey (Scott) Boyce, and Christopher (Christina) Braddock; 11 great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Maggie Mortimer of Danville.

Naomi is also survived by step-sons, Terry Tharp of Newark, Ted (Cheryl) Tharp of Nashport, and Timothy (Vickie) Tharp of Newark; step-grandchildren, Travis Tharp, Tatum (Kevin) Annette, Tara (John) Koski, Michael (Tiffany Reed) Tharp, Danette (Mitch) Conway, Thea (Jonah) White, Robert Rauch, Rosalyn (John) Stanley, and Richmond (Anna) Rauch; and several step-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Naomi was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Tharp in 2018; son, Stanley Mortimer; sister, Alberta “Bertie” Wiggins; and brother, Lloyd Mowry; step-daughter, Teena Rauch; and a step-daughter-in-law, Jacqueline Tharp.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of a funeral service at 1 p.m. on Monday, June 23, 2023 at the Snyder Funeral Homes, Fredericktown Chapel, 33 East College St., Fredericktown. Rev. Dr. Lucian Baker will officiate the service. Burial will follow in Wayne Cemetery near Fredericktown.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Morrow Manor, Activities Fund, 115 North Portland St., Chesterville, OH 43317 or Southern Care Hospice, 2291 West 4th St., Ontario, OH 44906 in Naomi’s memory.
