Mildred Mathes

Mildred Mathes, age 81, passed away on Sunday, June 8, 2025 at her home in Alamo, Tennessee.

She was born on April 9, 1944 in Gibson County to the late John Yarbrough and Gertrude Eaton Yarbrough.

Mildred attended Cairo Baptist Church in Alamo. She loved her family dearly and everyone she knew. She was known as a giver by many. She enjoyed talking, especially on the phone and visiting with everyone as she never met a stranger. Mildred was an excellent cook and was passionate about cooking for her family. She loved to go out to eat to celebrate special occasions. She was cared and loved for by many and known as “Momma”.

In addition to her parents, Mildred was preceded in death by one daughter, Lavonda Carol Mathes.

She is survived by her husband of sixty one years, Bobby Gene Mathes of Alamo; daughter, Sandra Reece of Alamo; brother, Charles Yarbrough; sister Carolyn Lawrence; and two grandchildren, Bethany Reece and Tyler Reece.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, June 14, 2025 at Oakview Memorial Park in Alamo, Tennessee.
