Michael Marvel

Michael Dylan Marvel, 39, of Thompsonville, passed away at 8:45 P.M. on Tuesday, July 22, 2025 at the Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis surrounded by his family.

He was born August 29, 1985 in Carbondale, Illinois to Michael Allen Marvel and Deanna (Hiller) Marvel.

Michael is survived by his parents, Mike and Deanna Marvel of Thompsonville, sister Mica Staton and nephew Riley Staton of Hopkinsville KY, sister Marci Marvel and nephew Zander of Thompsonville IL. and sister Megan and brother-in-law, Travis Shortland, nephew Collin Shortland, niece Kadynce Shortland and nephew Logan Shortland of Hardin County, IL. and several aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.

Michael was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents, aunt and uncles and brothers-in-law.

He was the owner and operator of Marvel Excavating and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and going to community ball games. He was the best son and brother

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at the First Baptist Church of Thompsonville with Brother Larry Miller officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Friday at the First Baptist Church in Thompsonville and from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. on Saturday at the church. Burial will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery south of Thompsonville.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Thompsonville Summer League Program and will be accepted at the church or the Parker-Reedy Funeral Home in West Frankfort.
