In Loving Memory of Mary Veliz

September 29, 1943 – May 7, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mary Veliz, who departed this life peacefully on May 7, 2025.

Mary was born on September 29, 1943, to Espiridion and Clara Villa in Tempe, Arizona.

Mary was a woman of deep compassion, gentle strength, and endless love. She was the soul of her family—always offering a kind word, a heartfelt embrace, and a smile that could light up any room. Her love was unconditional, and she shared it generously with everyone blessed to be part of her life.

She had a deep passion for music, especially oldies, 80s jams, and classic favorites like Air Supply and the Bee Gees. She also loved listening to Santana, Tejano, and Cumbias—often dancing joyfully in her living room with that radiant smile and lively spirit that brought happiness to everyone around her. Music was her heartbeat, and through it, she shared so much love and joy with her family.

Mary was also a proud and loyal fan of the San Francisco Giants and San Francisco 49ers. Whether it was baseball season or football Sunday, she cheered passionately for her teams.

Mary will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her loving children: Danny Veliz, Raul “Chato” Veliz, and her daughter Lisa. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Terry Vallejo, Victor Vallejo, Joshua Vallejo, and Nicolas Veliz, and her beloved great-grandchildren: Jeremiah and Davion Vallejo.

She is also survived by her siblings: brother Richard Villa, and sisters Virginia Rosillo, Yolanda Diaz, Esperanza “Pilly” Villa, Rita Garcia, and Linda Castillo. Mary was a beloved Tia to numerous nieces and nephews who adored her deeply.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Raul Veliz; her father, Espiridion Villa; her mother, Clara Villa; her brothers Rudy Villa, Frank Villa, and George Villa; and her sisters Joanne Lopez, Eleanor Sanchez, and Carmen Serrano.
