Mary S. Ptaszek
March 14, 1945 – June 27, 2025
Mary S. Ptaszek, aged 80, passed away on June 27, 2025, in Wauwatosa. Born on March 14, 1945, Mary dedicated her early years to educating young minds as a 1st-grade teacher at Brookfield Elementary School. After taking time off to raise her three sons, she continued to enrich her community by working at The Little Read Book store until her passing.
Mary was a lifelong parishioner of St Pius in Wauwatosa, where she also engaged actively in various church activities. Her faith and dedication to her community were evident in her involvement and the love she shared with fellow parishioners.
Beyond her professional and religious commitments, Mary had a vibrant personal life filled with joyous family gatherings and enthusiastic support for her children’s and grandsons’ sporting events. An avid fan of the Brewers and the Bucks, Mary enjoyed watching games and celebrating each season’s highs and lows. Her festive spirit shone brightly during holidays, with her thoughtful decorations and joy in gift-giving leaving lasting memories for all who knew her.
Mary’s legacy is carried on by her husband, Joseph, her sons, Michael, Kevin, and Tim, grandsons Michael and Joseph (their mother Maija Ptaszek), and her brother, Robert Leu. She also leaves behind cherished in-laws Donna Leu and Joan Ptaszek. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold William Leu and Lynette Margaret Nelson Leu, and her sister, Kathleen Leu Knox. Further survived by many friends.
A Memorial Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 10, 2025, from 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM, followed by a Memorial Service at 3:00 PM at ST. PIUS X CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2506 N. Wauwatosa Ave., Wauwatosa, WI, 53213.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Pius X Catholic Church in Mary’s memory, honoring her life of faith and service.
