Mary Lou Sclama

Mary Lou Sclama, 73, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2025, surrounded by her family. Born in Jersey City, she was a lifelong resident of Garwood.

Friends and relatives are invited to visit Tuesday, May 20, from 4-8 pm at Dooley Funeral Home, 218 North Ave. West, Cranford, N.J., 07016. A brief gathering will take place Wednesday, 9 am at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 am at St Anne’s Church in Garwood. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Westfield.

Mary Lou was a talented cook, and would often bake food for her family. She also enjoyed gardening, especially planting flowers. Above all, she loved to spend time with her grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents, Anthony and Jean D’Elia.

Surviving are her devoted husband of 55 years, Vitaliano; her beloved children, Joseph Sclama and his wife Tricia, Michelina Sclama, Jeana Koscica and her husband Mark; her loving grandchildren, Joseph and Savanna Sclama, Aleksandria and Nikolas Ivanitski, and Lacey Koscica; her brother Anthony G. D’Elia and his wife Doris; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
