Mary Ann Bologna

Mary Ann Bologna, known to most as Mae, was a shining light who never missed a chance to laugh and never took things too seriously. Born on July 18, 1933, in Bridgeport, CT, Mae’s life was one of kindness, and unwavering dedication to her family. On October 12, 2025, at the age of 92, Mae peacefully closed her eyes for the last time leaving behind a legacy as enduring as her memory.

After attending Harding High School, Mae and Joe started their large family going on to have 7 children and raising a very special niece. Mae worked several jobs eventually finding a career in the News Publishing Industry working in the darkroom as a Cameraperson in the prepress department.

Mae’s heart, however, belonged to her family. Predeceased by her husband, Joseph Bologna Sr., she was the matriarch of an expansive clan, including her children Joseph Bologna Jr. (Donna), Michael, Marty (Val), Anthony (Lois), Mary Carilli (Vic), Lisa Briggs (Mike), Kimberly Freer, Julie Lindberg and her many Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.

As a Mother, Mae always found a way to give her children everything they wanted. Her hard work allowed for all her children to have the hobbies they wanted and she was always there cheering them on.

Grandma Mae, as she was affectionately called by her grandchildren and their friends, was the epitome of selflessness. A caretaker at heart, she was the glue that held the family’s generations together. Her lasting lesson of caring for your loved ones was not missed by anyone.

Always surrounded by children, the role of “Grandma Mae” gave her the most joy. She loved music, movies, and most of all laughing. Mae was a lifelong, avid NY Yankees fan. Her playful banter was her gift to the world, a reminder that even as Alzheimer’s Disease tried to dim her vibrant spirit, her ability to make others smile never wavered.

Mae’s tough exterior and soft heart is eternally etched in our hearts. Her legacy of love and laughter will continue to inspire us all.

The family would like to acknowledge the staff at Masonicare (Wooster 3) for the wonderful care Mae received.
