Mary Alice Dorrance Malone passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her two children, Mary Alice D. Malone and Catherine D. Malone, their spouses, and six grandchildren. Mary Alice also is survived by her brothers, John Dorrance and Bennett Dorrance, and their spouses, children and grandchildren. Her family was her greatest treasure, and her love for them unwavering.

Mary Alice resided in Wellington, Florida and maintained a home in Coatesville, Pennsylvania, operating Iron Spring Farm in both locations. Founded in 1976 by Mary Alice, Iron Spring grew to stand at the pinnacle of sport horse breeding and competition. Ultimately in recognition of her extraordinary influence and lasting impact on the sport horse community, Mary Alice was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award from the KWPN-NA in 2025.

Mary Alice was not only an entrepreneur and accomplished horsewoman, she also served on the Board of Directors of The Campbell’s Company for thirty-five years and served on the board of several philanthropic organizations. Moreover, in 1996 Mary Alice founded The Roemer Foundation through which she supported a vast number of charitable organizations. Mary Alice also demonstrated a strong commitment to the preservation of open space and agricultural land.

Private services will be held by the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Roemer Foundation, Mary Alice D. Malone Memorial Fund, 605 Main Street, Suite 212, Riverton, NJ 08077. Donations to the fund will be used to award grants to charitable organizations that support the sport and horses to which Mary Alice devoted her life.
