Maria Taraschi
Maria Dina Spagnulo Taraschi, 94, of Downingtown, peacefully passed at her home surrounded by family on June 30, 2025 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Abramo Victor (Popeye) Taraschi, her sister, Iris Spagnulo, her son’s, Andrew and Dino Taraschi, and granddaughter Brittany Taraschi.
Born in Castelli, in the Abruzzo Region of Italy, she was the eldest child of Antonio A. Spagnulo and Edvige DiClaudio.
After marrying in Castelli, she immigrated to the United States in 1954 and became a US Citizen in 1963.
An amazing stay-at-home mother of 9 children with boundless energy, and a well-known neighborhood mom of Church Street, Dina always made everyone feel welcomed. She provided meals for anyone in the house as well as stray animals and the birds in her yard.
Dina will always be remembered for her love of children. Her most important example and lesson to all was her steadfast faith and devotion to family. She provided the most important ingredients that life has to offer, as our childhood was filled with love, faith, and laughter.
Her faith, devotion to the rosary, and Padre Pio, carried her through the many trials she endured during her life. She was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Church, and a member of the Saint Anthony’s Women Auxiliary, Prime Timers, and the Holy Name Society. She also enjoyed her time and friends at the Downingtown and Tel Hai Senior Centers.
Dina is survived by her children, Mary Kipp (Dave), Victor J. Taraschi, Pia Lutz (Richard), Francis X. Taraschi (Lisa), Philip Taraschi (Lori), Gabriella DiSantis (Michael), and Mirella Cuccio (Edward). Additionally, she leaves a legacy of 27 grandchildren, and 38 great grandchildren!
Our beloved ‘Queen Dina’ will forever remain in our hearts and memories.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2025 at 11 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 332 Manor Avenue, Downingtown, PA 19335. Visitation will be from 9:30 – 10:45 AM prior to mass at the church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Downingtown.
