Margaret Louise Harris Golden, lovingly known as Maggie, passed away peacefully at home on May 11, 2025, surrounded by her children and grandchildren.
Born on November 3, 1944, in Lyons, Georgia, to Melvin Harris and Ella Mae Jones, Maggie lived a life grounded in love, strength, and unwavering devotion to her family. She worked in the dietary department at Mainland Manor for over 30 years, remaining there until the facility’s closure in 2016.
Maggie was a proud, outspoken woman with a big heart. She loved deeply and lived fully. Family was everything to her. Whether hosting cookouts, organizing movie nights, or gathering everyone for monthly dinners, she made sure her home remained the heart of her family. She instilled in her children a strong sense of unity, love, and resilience.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Ronald H. Golden Jr.; her parents, Melvin Harris and Ella Mae Jones Parrish; her mother-in-love, Dorothy Hines; her brother, Donald Randy Parrish; grandchildren Shaniqua Jackson and Charles Wynn; and sons-in-love Darryl A. Loveland Sr. and Gerald L. Dunn Sr.
Maggie leaves to cherish her memory:
• Her nine devoted children: Sharon Loveland, Sylvia Lewis, Alberta Lewis, Vicky Lewis, Kim Dunn, Ayesha (Kerry) Letson, Lateisha Golden, Albert Lewis(James Sr.), and Sean (Fatima) Harris
• Brothers: Lewis McClendon, Preston (Mary) McClendon, Danny (Brenda) Parrish, Ronald Parrish
• Sisters: MaryAnn Adcock, MaryEllen (Keith) Spence
• Sisters-in-love: Nancy Robinson, Patricia (Norman) Leach, Christine Morris, Charlotte Golden
• Brother-in-love: Steven Golden Sr.
• Grandchildren: 21
• Great-grandchildren: 29
• Great-great-grandchildren: 3
• Three God daughters: LaShawn Baines, Tracy Parks and Marlisa Haywood
• Cherished friends: Mattie Fisher, Kathleen Dudley, and Lydia Letson
• A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and beloved friends
Maggie’s legacy is one of fierce love, dedication, and togetherness. She will be missed dearly, but the memories she created will be carried in our hearts forever.
