Mae Swarner
Mae Joan (Hertel) Swarner, 94, of Honey Brook, passed away on Friday, June 27, 2025 at Tel Hai Retirement Community, Honey Brook.
Born in Downingtown, Mae was the daughter of the late Anton and Elizabeth (Willliams) Hertel. She was the wife of the late Frank G. Swarner, who passed away in 1984.
Mae spent many years working as a Teacher’s Aide at Beaver Creek Elementary School, Downingtown. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Downingtown, where she had volunteered in the church rectory for numerous years.
Her children and grandchildren take comfort that she is with their Dad and Grandfather now and finally at peace.
Mae is survived by her children: Frank G. Swarner of Glenmoore, David A. Swarner (Kathy) of New Holland, Steven T. Swarner of Burnside, and Lorie J. Penderghest (Vince) of Kissimmee, FL; grandchildren: Abby Penderghest, Emma Penderghest, Chip Swarner, and Erik Swarner; great grandson: Alorik Swarner.; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mae was preceded in death by her siblings: Andrew Hertel, George Hertel, Elizabeth Remick, and Marguerite Kacy.
Services will be conducted privately at the convenience of the family.
Memorial contributions in Mae’s name may be made to either St. Joseph Catholic Church or Tel Hai Care Assurance Fund.
