Local photographers explore black and white landscapes in Carson City Photo Club competition

With “Black and White Landscapes” as its September theme, local photographers brought their best atmospheric outdoor shots before Carson City Photo Club judges for its monthly competition.

With a tie for third place and a winner’s choice award, the following photos were picked by judges as the best. The winners are:

First Place: “Winter’s Rest” Jim Donato
Second Place: “Lone Tree in Winter” Carol Grenier
Third Place: “Monument Valley” Dave Harrison
Third Place: “Spring Storm” MaryLou Schindler
Winner’s Choice: “Convict Lake” Tom Keller

The Carson City Photo Club meets at 6 p.m. on the first Tuesday of every month, except December, in the Ormsby Room of the Carson City Sheriff’s Office, 911 East Musser Street.

The theme for October is “Vintage, Over 30 Years Old.” All levels of photographers are welcome.

Become a member for $15 per year and submit your 8×10 matted photo taken within the last year to enter in the competition. Go here for more information.
